【吉他教室】Some feelings to share - Frank Li (李子凡)
My very first rendezvous with flamenco guitar was some thirty years ago. Walking along some back streets in an evening I heard some peculiar guitar riffs and I ran into my first mentor who was playing in a small music shop. I was immediately enchanted by this immensely passionate art form known as Flamenco.
I spent a few intensive years in playing flamenco guitar during my college years, which culminated in my joining the 20-flamenco-players group founded by Raymond circa 1988. Abruptly I stopped, out of reasons of sorts I can now barely recount.
Years fly and I left my Manuel Condel in dust. I once had a brief attempt to master the art, but to no avails. To me flamenco guitar is difficult requiring commitment and perseverance for which I was not determined enough.
On this last evening of July I saw some good old faces, both on the stage and among the audience in Raymond’s concert. Old buddies aside, to my delight I saw younger guys whose recitals were nothing short of brilliance.

I have been more reserved and suspected there are hardly any younger people really into this genre, namely Flamenco Puro. I am moved by Raymond and his companions’ commitment and perseverance over so many years, contributing to the succession of the genre in this part of the world.
I have started once again, from the very basics. I know it’s worthy.
